Have your kids been dreaming of becoming astronauts or exploring galaxies far, far away?

Space-themed room ideas your kids will love can turn those dreams into everyday adventures, right from their bedrooms. As a parent who’s gone through the Pinterest rabbit hole and DIY chaos, I’ve tested and loved these setups myself.

From glow-in-the-dark constellations to rocket beds, I’m sharing the best of what worked for us. Keep scrolling—your little astronaut’s dream room is just a few stars away.

    We’re Going to The Moon!

    We’re Going to The Moon!

This was one of the first space-themed room ideas my kids and I fell in love with. Think moon murals, rocket bedding, and wall decals of astronauts floating in zero gravity. We even added a giant moon night light that glows softly at bedtime—it’s magical! My youngest always pretends he’s gearing up for takeoff right before bedtime. It’s playful, dreamy, and sparks their imagination every single night.

    Space Fox Theme

Okay, this one is just adorable. We blended the mystery of outer space with the cuteness of forest animals—specifically, a cheeky little space-traveling fox! We found wall art of foxes in astronaut suits, added some navy and orange tones, and threw in a few plush toys. It’s quirky, sweet, and surprisingly calming. My daughter says her fox “guards her dreams from aliens.” I mean, who can argue with that logic?

    Starry, Starry Night

We turned the ceiling into a personal night sky with glow-in-the-dark stars and constellations. Add in some navy walls and twinkling string lights and suddenly, you’re lying under the stars every night. It became our nightly ritual to find Orion or the Big Dipper before bedtime stories. If your kid is a dreamer, this one’s a win.

    Head in the Clouds

    Head in the Clouds

This room leans into a dreamy astronaut vibe—think floating through space with clouds beneath your feet. We painted soft cloud murals, added a hanging spaceship mobile, and chose fluffy white rugs. The vibe? Calm and dreamy. Perfect for kids who love stories about space travel and need a cozy, imaginative escape.

    Space Rocket Chalk Wall

    Space Rocket Chalk Wall

This one is interactive and hands-on. We painted an entire wall with chalkboard paint and let the kids draw their own galaxies, rockets, and planets. Every week, it becomes a new space adventure. Add in a few colorful rocket decals, and suddenly the wall is alive with creativity. Great for curious minds who like to doodle their way to the stars.

    To the Moon and Back

    To the Moon and Back

Inspired by the classic quote, we centered the room around a big wall decal that says, “I love you to the moon and back.” We kept the colors soft—pale grays, whites, and gentle blues—and added cloud pillows, moon-shaped lights, and a telescope. It’s sentimental and sweet, especially for younger kids (and mushy parents like me).

    Intergalactic Workstation

    Intergalactic Workstation

Perfect for older kids or tweens who are starting to do homework. We created a dedicated space-themed study corner with galaxy wallpaper, a modern white desk, and a rotating planet lamp. Throw in a few space-themed books, and the room becomes a launchpad for learning. It’s fun, functional, and totally Instagram-worthy.

    Space Rocket Theme

This one is a full-blown launch site. We built a rocket-shaped bookshelf, used a rocket bed frame, and added a wall mural of a shuttle blasting off. The bed even had flame-colored bedding at the bottom—so it really looked like liftoff! It’s bold, colorful, and full of energy. Your little astronaut won’t want to leave.

    Astronomer’s Paradise

    Astronomer’s Paradise

My son went through a space scientist phase (still in it), so we built him his own “observatory.” We added a telescope by the window, constellation maps on the walls, and a solar system model hanging from the ceiling. The color palette was rich and scholarly—deep blues and metallic golds. He calls it his “thinking zone.”

    Full Moon Rising

    Full Moon Rising

This idea focuses on the majesty of the moon. We painted one entire wall with a hyper-realistic mural of a rising full moon. The rest of the room stayed neutral—gray, white, and black. We added a moon phase chart, moon rock replicas, and a glowing orb light. It’s serene and very cool, even for older kids.

    Space Cadet

    Space Cadet

This one was all about turning the room into a training camp for future astronauts. We added space badges, mission checklists, and even a “control panel” by the bed made from painted cardboard. It’s immersive and totally fuels pretend play. Ideal for kids who are obsessed with NASA and space gear.

    Cosmic Corner

    Cosmic Corner

Sometimes, you don’t need a full room makeover. We carved out a cozy corner with a beanbag, starry canopy, and a few space-themed books. Add a galaxy projector and a comfy throw, and it becomes the perfect chill zone for reading or stargazing (indoors). It’s small but mighty!

On the Edge of the World

On the Edge of the World

Inspired by the idea of orbit, we created a floating bed illusion with underlighting and a round moon rug underneath. Add some zero-gravity looking wall art, and you’ve got a room that feels like it’s drifting in space. It’s peaceful, modern, and just a bit surreal—in a good way!

    To the Stars and Beyond!

    To the Stars and Beyond!

A cheerful and uplifting take on space decor. We used star-shaped pillows, rocket decals, and bright yellow accents to give it a sunny, optimistic feel. The message? Dream big! We added an inspiring quote on the wall and a space journal for creative writing. It’s motivating and playful.

    It’s a Wrap!

This is more than a theme—it’s a total experience. We used 360° wall decals to wrap the room in a full cosmic scene—planets, stars, rockets, and black holes. It literally feels like walking into space. Add some sound effects or themed music for the full immersion. It’s bold, brilliant, and unforgettable.
